Sara Sanson, LIMHP, LCSW

Sara is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Sara has a deep, heartfelt passion for her work with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. She works to support individuals and families through difficult and stressful periods. Sara has an extensive, 11-year background working with attachment theory, post-adoption support, and working with families touched by adoption.

Sara has extensive training in treating children and adolescents with neurodivergent symptoms and experiences. Sara has completed certification and/or training in the following:  Adoption Competent Therapist (TAC), Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Family Systems Work, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), Circle of Security-Parenting Facilitator, and Integrative Team Treatment for Attachment Trauma Protocol (IATP-C) trained therapist. She also provides therapy for high performing athletes and creatives through EMDR and DBT skill development.

Sara believes in creating opportunities for children and families to cultivate deep and meaningful connections through the therapeutic process. Sara’s work with families integrates the process of relational interactions which allows each family member to experience healing that contributes to improved functioning of the whole family system. She employs a wide range of therapeutic approaches to create a safe, judgement-free space that allows and encourages the healing process.

In addition to her work as a therapist, Sara offers trainings and consultations on working with children and families touched by trauma; understanding the 7 Core Issues of Adoption; development of executive functioning skills in the classroom; understanding and supporting people with ADHD; and supporting children in the process of earned secure attachment. Sara is available weekly for consultative services, providing trainings, and clinical supervision.
