Teresa is joining MECC after working 31 years in education.  She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1989.  She moved to the east coast for a couple of  years before starting her teaching career.  When she returned to Nebraska, she was hired in Pierce, Nebraska. Teresa worked there four years teaching in their elementary school.  During those years, she  developed a strong desire to be an elementary school counselor.  In 1995, Teresa moved to Kearney and attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney and received her Master's Degree in school counseling. In 1997, she was hired by Kearney Public Schools and worked as an elementary school counselor for the next 27 years. Teresa has retired from Kearney Public Schools and is looking forward to being able to help families in a new way at MECC. She has a passion for helping children and parents foster loving relationships together through skill based education and therapeutic parenting.

Outside of work, she loves spending time with her adult children and her husband, Kent. She also loves reading books, watching movies, walking, and being with friends and family. She also loves her cat, Dexter, which she inherited from her son when he headed off to college.
